Case Study

NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) is the national voice of local support and development organisations in England. We are a charity that champions and strengthens voluntary and community action by supporting our members in their work with over 160,000 local charities and community groups.

We asked Greenhouse to help us rethink and refresh our approach to income generation and the delivery of support services to our members and other stakeholders.

We wanted them to bring their insights from the commercial world to help us take a more business-like approach to organising our services and diversifying our income.

Following extensive fieldwork with our stakeholders, their report presented a challenging analysis of our culture, practice and performance in respect of business development activities and made recommendations about which areas of income growth had the most potential. It also indicated how we needed to think and behave differently if we wanted to see better results in any of those income generation activities.

The lessons learnt from this assignment have helped us enormously in gaining a sense of clarity and focus for our business development activities which we are now using to create a more results-oriented approach to being successful and sustainable in the future.
